Art-making as community building is a cornerstone to Meena’s artistic and social justice practice. As a community arts educator, Meena has guided filmmaking and/or movement processes since 2002 with racialized youth, girls, and criminalized communities. They have worked with numerous organizations since 2002 in Montréal (South Asian Women's Community Center, Girls Action Foundation, YWCA, Elizabeth Frye Society, Engrenage Noir/LEVIER), Toronto (South Asian Visual Arts Center), Rio de Janeiro (Afro-Reggae), Niamey (Alternatif), and Los Angeles (Will Power to Youth). Meena has developed creative programs with racialized youth, and criminalized communities that involve collectively making films and performances. Meena's programs center a feminist of color perspective.
